    Never saw this bird before

I found 2 nests in my barns on Long Island (NY) today -- and I have never seen these birds before.

The adults are approx 4" and are jet black with a peach colored throat and belly and a white "moustache."  The nests look to be made of mud and droppings ans are in the eves of small storage sheds, about 5' from the ground.  Both the male and female are in each nest and each nest contains 5 babies.

I'm thinking they are some kind of warbler, but as I said, they are really colorful and unlike anything I've ever seen before.

And clues as to what they might be?

It looks like you have a nest of barn swallows! Smile

Barn Swallows. Good to have them around... they eat tons of flying insects. Cute little critters, too!

This nest is home to a barn swallow family. They are quite adorable and eat mosquitos.
