Saw my first Eastern Bluebird today! Considering the kinds of birds I used to see from whereever I've lived (hordes of Starlings, House Sparrows and Grackles), I never thought I'd ever see a Bluebird, let alone from my own house.
I would've *never* seen them without binoculars, and it was pure chance I spent time scanning through distant trees.... there they were! Presumably a male and female pair sitting on a branch. One bright bright blue with a red breast, the other a more gray with red breast. I even called my G/F up so she could see, but she couldn't find them. I spent prolly 10 minutes watching until they moved off... and for that moment, I had to contemplate whether I should stay home from work on the off chance they might come back...
