    bird hit window

I haven't gotten suncatchers put up in the windows yet to deter the birds and sure enough one thunked into the glass this morning :(

I'm not very familiar with little woodland birds, but my guess was that it is a Veery...I have a hard time distinguishing between that and some other thrushes, but I ruled out swainsons thrush because I figured it would be bigger?  I'm pretty sure it died on impact, but I put it in a little box just in case it was knocked out.  I live right next to the woods in NJ right now, so if I'm wrong about what it is, I'd love suggestions.  The photo is pretty accurate on color, it's kind of olivey brown with a cream underside, and cream breast with brown/black flecks.

I believe you have an Ovenbird. A woodland thrush that has a loud "tea-CHER tea-CHER tea-CHER" call. I'm sorry to see it when these birds hit the windows. We had a red-eyed vireo hit ours the other day.

It does look like an Ovenbird.... but technically they are wood-warblers

ah yes thank you! I can't believe I didn't think of that right away--the dark lines ontop of the head should have been obvious.  I have heard them often too.
