    Great Egret?

    Attachment: whiteforum.jpg

Hi again...I'm really trying to identify the birds I've been seeing, but being new I would like confirmation from the people of this site.  I appreciate the time each of you take to help me out.

Recently some farm land was returned to it's original marshy state in central IL.  These white birds have appeared to take it over.  They are the size of Great Blue Herons and same type of flight.  I believe the bird in this picture is a Great Egret, but they don't have the head plumes like I've seen in pictures.

    As always, thank you.

    Re: Great Egret?

I believe this is a Great Egret.  It has probably molted and lost its breeding plume.
