    Re: personal request

Well, we got the results today.  He does have cancer.  We are now hoping they have caught it early enough.  He goes to an oncologist this Friday and we'll take it one day at a time from there.

    Dear Valleygirl,

May God bless you and keep you both very safe and close to His heart.

There are many advances in the field - whatever you do - do not give up hope.  And know this...."I can do all things, through Christ, who strengthens me."  He will carry you.  You and your family will certainly be in my prayers.

    Valleygirl,

Just think positive and know that our prayers are with you both!   I think Sharon said it all very well.

    Take Care,

    Re: personal request

    Dear Valleygirl,

I am sorry to hear the news regarding your husbands cancer.

I remember a number of years ago waiting for results on a nasty mole that was removed from my right elbow it came back as melanoma (deadly skin cancer). Thankfully I had a great doctor and he managed to get it all I may have an elbow that doesn't function correctly but it is cancer free thanks to my doctor.

My Dad had Colon cancer he sadly passed back in March 2000 He was back home in New Zealand and I was here in Connecticut.

It is hard knowing just what to say to you except I know how you feel and what you are going through both sides Myself a survivor and losing a loved one to cancer.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers

    Hugs

    Re: personal request

Well, we didn't get encouraging news on Friday.  THis doctor said his cancer was inoperable.  We have to go back tomorrow for more tests to determine to what extent, if any, it has spread.  Then we go back Wed to find out what our options are as far as treatments.  I don't want to accept this.  There's got to be something out there to help him.  It's good that this doctor does not have the final say and is not in control.

    Re: personal request

So sorry to hear the latest valley. Nothing we can say here is going to comfort you too much. Having dealt with this 5 times myself, I used to pray for cures, I now pray for peace and I end every evening with a simple prayer "Lord, with a wave of your finger this can go away, Thy will be done."

Hang in there, don't give up. He has a plan for us.

    Re: personal request

Valleygirl...do you know anyone else who has had this kind of cancer? From what I know, and it's not much, there are communities of people and they all seem to know their stuff. They know research, they know experimental things, they know the best doctors, the best treatments, the most hopeful routes...

I know that WebMD has some cancer message boards..maybe they can give you some help.

I am so sorry...so so sorry. I know there is NOTHING I can say...and that makes me hurt for you even more.

    Re: personal request

Thanks Vic, Tom, and Purple.  It's means a lot that you guys are thinking of us during this crazy time.  We go back to the oncologist tomorrow for the prognosis as far as what treatment, if any, can be done.

    Re: personal request

Valleygirl, I will pray everyday for a good outcome.  I went thru the same thing with my husband last year.  He was diagnosed with cancer in June and had surgery in November.  I felt exactly the same as you...like I was living in a dream world.  So far, he is cancer free.  But to be honest, I can't remember hardly anything that happened those few months unless it had to do with him. Stay positive for him and just know we are all hoping for the best possible news.

    Re: personal request

Hi everyone.  My husband had his first chemo treatment Friday.  It took 4 hours.  So far he has had no serious side effects.  He goes back for a shorter treatment this coming Fri then he will have a week off and start over again.  We are trying to remain hopeful.
