Whatbird.com

HI, I am new here and moved away from San Diego about 10 years ago. I am going back for a week and have a few days to kill. Where are the best birding sites for walking, (most birds, some shade, some water) are my top criteria. I am staying in North County, but am willing to travel anywhere in S.D. county for some good birding. Would like suggestions for a coast trip, S. Bay/Chula Vista area and N. County.

I have never been to San Diego, hence I don't really know where the best spots are.

Thank you for responding. Have you ever been somewhere and only the locals really know where to go for good birding? I don't want to end up in a hot, dry, birdless place where I had to pay to park. ha ha.

 

Can't speak for the locals but if the Silverwood sanctuary has reopened ( It was shut down by the wildfires a couple of years ago ) it's a can't miss..
