    Wear a flower in the head ?

    What happen to these guys' head?

    Is it temporary or permanent ?

    And what bird ?

    I am guessing a domestic form of mallard that has been bred to look that way.

    It's a Crested duck.  It is actually a genetic mutation and they do breed for it.  Here's a link with some info.

    It's a Crested duck.  It is actually a genetic mutation and they do breed for it.  Here's a link with some info.

    Damn those ducks!!  We've got Cardinals going bald left and right, and they're out there FLAUNTING their huge bouffants!!

    I have a half a mind to sidle up to them (if you've never sidled, you should try it) sprinkle salt on their tails, and then while they are helpless, shave them off and donate them to the Cardinals.  I think I'll call it "Flocks For Love"

    (PS: They are mixed feral domestic & wild mallards, btw)

    Yes, we should start a Flocks for Love movement  - but you know those darn bald Blue Jays are going to want in on it too!!
