Last weekend, I saw a family of three raccoons helping to control the Gopher Tortoise population. I wanted to stop them (Gopher Tortoises are threatened here, and they're a keystone species), but what could I do? Even when I stood right by the nest, they'd still come in, grab an egg, run off and eat it, and then come right back. Persistent little devils...
