A pair of chickadees had nested in a box in our backyard and the couple are very busy going in and out of the box countless times. Every so often the birds will rest on tree limbs and beat their wings rapidly before entering the box. Their actions are somewhat similiar to humming birds but not as rapid.
Does anyone know the reason for this behavior?
