Golden-fronted Woodpecker?
I found this, as well as many other strange and unusual woodpeckers in my backyard here in Georgia, but
this one is the strangest one of them all. It most resembles a Golden-fronted Woodpecker because it has the
golden belly, but a different color pattern on its head(red where the gold should be, and gray where the
red should be) which makes me extremely curious to know what this bird is, especially considering their
range is in Texas and Mexico. Although, I have also seen a Red-naped Sapsucker which is found only in the
southwestern region of North America. What I'm wondering, could this be some new species, or just another
variety of the Golden-fronted Woodpecker? I managed to snap a lot of pictures of it, some of which are
very good...I don't have a very good camera though, so sorry about the quality.
