We have some land in Orange Grove, Texas (southeastern section of Texas). We were out there today and we heard what sounded like a bird laughing. so we looked around and there in a live oak tree I saw a bright green flash. It then landed on the ground below the tree, eating the acorns. It was a grackle or crow sized bird with the brightest green body and a very black crown and neck.
I posted a picture in Jan's birds. The picture isn't great but if you zoom into the area in front of the car bumper you can see the bird with it's head down.
I have been all over the internet tonight trying to id this bird, but no luck.
Can anyone out there help me?
