Hi,
I am new to the forums here, and I need some help identifying part of a flock of birds that came through my property this week. I'm new to Central Oregon so I was not sure if the birds were regular visitors or not, and didn't have the brains to get my camera out since I was running late for work.
A flock of robins, chickadees, a grosbeak and about a dozen birds that looked like the Juniper Titmouse suddenly appeared in the large juniper outside my kitchen. The bird I want to identify had the look of a Juniper Titmouse (after poring over a neighbor's bird book) but the belly and underparts of these birds were definitely a dull yellow greenish color. When I first saw the flash of color in the tree I immediately thought of the flocks of parrots I was accustomed to seeing from my kitchen window in Southern California.
The birds were basically tanned colored, had a crest, and they were about 6-7 inches from head to tail tip with no distinctive markings on their heads or crest, or wings. It was hard to tell what they were eating but I did see one pick a juniper berry and eat that.
My neighbor did not see them, but thought they might be the Juniper Titmouse. But the pictures of this bird does not show any greenish yellowish coloring.
Any thoughts? I now keep the camera close at hand, but we haven't seen them after that day.
Thanks, Cathy
