OK, you all sent me off on a search for my bird - and yes I am very certain SHE is either a female Hooded Oriole or a female Orchard Oriole - the thing is, either way she is a little bit out of her normal territory from what I can see. The Hooded, would be just a few hundred miles north, but the Orchard would be substantialy west of territory. The Hooded is also more the right size, but the Orchard is more the color I see -- brilliant yellow.
It probably is a Hooded, but is sure bright. In searching I found this gorgeous picture of an Orchard Oriole that really shows the bright yellow of "my bird". I was going to paste it in here, but for some reason it wouldn't work - so here is the link: http://www.pbase.com/gaocus/image/43696123
