We have a bird feeder outside our RV where we spend the summer. We enjoy feeding the birds and also have a rabbit, a deer, and a pheasant eating the seed.
Mostly sparrows and cowbirds, but some nuthatches, thrushes and many other species.
However, we will be closing up the RV in early October and do not want the birds to suddenly have no feed just as winter is setting in.
This feeder is in Southern Alberta where it gets very cold during winter.
Is it wiser to cease feeding them in early September or even now? Or should we just put less and less seed out over a long period of time so they will learn to go somewhere else?
Thank you for any advice you can give.
