Hi Everyone,
I hope this post is in the right forum and I will move it if it's not.
There have been a couple postings recently on IDying bird songs and calls and it made me wonder.
1. How much does a bird's vocal help you on routine bird trips or help to clinch an ID?
2. Do you actively study bird songs and calls using CDs, video, descriptions, working in the field?
3. How important is the vocal component (of the bird!) in your overall birding experience?
If this is the wrong forum I will move it. I'm just curious to know this of other birders. For me listening to bird vocals is a very important part of my birding experience. I want to know the songs and calls of everybird I see! When I first started birding I studied CDs and worked in the field to learn bird vocal. Now, I try to pick them up when I go birding but I don't actively study songs or call.
I look forward to all the great replys!
