    Nutty bird in Northern CA

    Hello!

I'm writing because I've had some crazy incidents with a bird slamming himself repeatedly into my window between 5-7:30 AM most mornings. I finally printed out and put up some pictures of hawks and falcons, and it has mostly worked - he comes back for a nostalgia bash once a week or so.

Anyway, now I'm curious as to what kind of bird it is. I live in Walnut Creek, which is in the East Bay Area, CA.

The bird is approximately pigeon-sized, maybe a bit smaller. He's definitely much bigger than a robin, perhaps the same length as a bluejay but definitely much bulkier.  It's call is long and not very musical - it's long with repeated quick trills and sounds rather frantic. It's brown, not sure of markings or colorations. He's pretty fast.

The closest bird I've found using your search is the Bendire's thrasher, but I'm not sure that's it. Most of the birds I found seemed too small. He definitely does not seem to be any kind of sparrow. The call recorded is fairly similar but not exactly.

     Help?
