Bird was attacked by a stray cat. We've been nursing this little bird back to health for 2 weeks (so far). It will eat store-bought earthworms, mealworms and wild mulberries but only when handfed. Will not pick up food from ground. Will turn its nose up at cold food. Hasn't tried to fly yet. Has a badly broken leg. Hops a lot, loses its balance a lot, too.
In this video you can hear it squawk and see it perching:

I'm thinking it might be a wren or warbler. It is quite small, all black. Not sure if face was different color... cat removed the bird's mask, so it was red and raw when we found it. Appears to have scabbed over now.
We are located in a suburb in southern Illinois.
It cries out loudly every 2-3 hours all day long until it is fed. Eats a lot each time!
We gave it a stick to practice perching on its one good leg. It seems to like sitting on the stick and staying in one corner of its box..
Anyone know what kind it is? Is it fully grown? Are we feeding it properly? Is there anything else we can do to help it? Thanks in advance for the help!
