I have used Nikons for years. my current pair are the Sportstar 10x25. They cost less than $75.00 and are water resistant. I love them. The Audubon Scoiety here in NH is having a sale on Binoc's this month. I don't know if they do this everywhere but they had some pretty good deals.

I sometimes have the same problem, Melanie. Do you wear glasses while you're looking through the binos? I wear glasses but don't like looking thru the binos with them on. It just feels funny. Anyway...I have three pair and all are "el cheapos" so I'm interested to hear the differing views on which binos under $100 are being used.

This is a great topic for me to find - and would love more info - because binoculars don't work for me! Maybe there is something weird with my eyes but, no matter how I adjust binoculars, I get double images.

Any good monoculars out there? Or should I just keep closing one eye when looking through binoculars?

I think the only reason for a monocular would be for laser range-finding. I recently got some Nikon RealTree 10x25 binoculars ($70 retail where I had to go) and they're great.

I would suggest Nikon Action 8x40 or 7x35. They are only $57.00 and are much better than the average $50.00 binoculars in fact they are the best you can get under $100. I just upgraded mine from those to Vortex Vipers which are $500.

Eagle Optics binoculars are great and usually not extremely expensive. A good inexpensive pair is the Meade Travel view. I would suggest that you at least get a pair of binoculars. Scopes and monoculars are great additional pieces of equipment, but binoculars are necessary.

I am curious what people here feel about this. I recently dropped my binoculars on the sidewalk (not a huge loss, there were a $25 pair from Sport Authority, but it was sad, they were a nice little pair) and I am looking for something as a replacement. Any opinions are wanted!
