Like kiwi, I too wish I could afford a 300mm f2.8 lens but they're WAY out of my price range. For my Olympus system, Zuiko's 300mm f2.8 runs about 8 grand new and I have yet to see a used one listed for sale. I have to settle for Sigma's 50-500mm f4-6.3 for my upgrade, not as quick as the f2.8 lenses but it'll be a big step up from my not so quick 70-300mm f4-5.6. Unfortunately I have to wait until AFTER next weeks camping trip before I can get the new lens. I hope to enjoy my new lens as much as you are enjoying yours. Nice pics Goose.
Re: New Lens!!

That's what I thought, but my summer job turned out to pay a little more than I thought ;)

And being a kid and not having to pay bills etc, helps too. Results: AWESOME. I love this lens! It has amazing image quality (at least with my D5000), and although it weighs a lot, it's not too bad to carry for long walks. My new tripod (Manfrotto 190XPROB) is also a wonder! Unfortunately, this lens doesn't meter with my camera so I have to learn manual exposure on the fly

Some shots:

1/640s, f/2.8

1/4000s, f/4
