The park offers an eagle tour for $15 per person. I had so much fun! I found out about this perch from the CA state biologist.

The day was cold, extremely overcast and foggy, with a constant mist in the air that made it difficult to take photos. I drove around the lake (over thousands of potholes) to find a secluded parking place. I ended up hiking downhill to the water line to get far enough below the eagle so that I could see him watching the lake for prey. I hid quietly in nearby chaparral bushes until I could get a clear profile shot. Thank God I remembered to take the lens cap off!
