During the Fresno Auduon's CBC I spotted three N. Pintails with some Buffleheads along the lower Friant Dam. It happens when ducks land during heavy "Tule" fog, and we really got lucky. Hope your new year is warmer, if not go to Starbucks. <smile>

Re: Northern Pintail Ducks

Great picture. It would be hard to improve on it in the capture of the beauty of the bird.

By the way, did you know that these birds can be purchased commercially from many Gamebird Breeding Operations?

Re: Northern Pintail Ducks

We were watching sealions and harbor seals in the river yesterday! I guess you could say they grew up fishing there as well. The snow is history thank goodness. Now it may flood - give us a break already! Most of the wetlands at Nisqually were frozen yesterday - today they are ice free. Life in Washington I guess.

Re: Northern Pintail Ducks

Nice photo!

I grew up in WA State and fished along the Nisqually River.

I see in the news you are experiencing a rough winter.

Northern Pintail Ducks

We were at the Nisqually NWR in Washington State earlier today and saw several Northern Pintail Ducks. I don't recall seeing them before and I've been reading that they are on the decline. I thought I would post a picture of these very pretty ducks just in case some of you haven't seen them before. It's my first new bird of the year - I'm off to a good start I think.
