How to post an Image on the forums

I have seen a lot of people stating they can't post an image on these forums so i am going to try and explain how.

First off you will need a couple of things they are 1) The image to display and 2) an image hosting web site ( I use my own web site and upload my images to display there)

Step 1 ) Start your forum off then click on the insert image button as shown here :-

This will open a Dialog box that you fill in to tell the forum where the image is located

Step 2) The location Dialog box

Fill out the Image URL make sure you get it correct or it won't work if you used upper case letters you must use them etc. Then all you need to do is click on the insert button that is it your image should show up straight away in the forum you are writing.

Trouble posting

I've tried three times to post and attach a photo in the bird id help forum. I keep receiving the following message after I click on post:

Oops something went wrong!

Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too.

I've posted before w/o problem and can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if the problem is with the site.

Any help for this problem?

moderator approval?

Hello,

I've posted several threads to the bird identification forum and have found this community to be very friendly and helpful. About four hours ago I tried to post a new thread there and got a funny message about new posts to the forum needing moderator approval. It said I would be emailed when my post was approved. I've never seen this message before, i never got the email, and my post never showed up in the forum. I tried again about three hours ago thinking that maybe there was some funny glitch involved with the first one. Same results - or lack of.

What's going on? Should I try my post again? I don't want a bunch of duplicates to pop up.

daily digests?

Is it possible to receive forum posts in a daily digest? This would help me quite a bit as I wouldn't need to deal with (sometimes up to) 50 posts during the day while I'm at work. If it's already possible, how do I enable that feature?

Is there a place on this site (such as a map with pushpin markers or the like) to see at a glance where forum members are located? Of course I'm interested in seeing who is near me (NW Florida) but it would also be interesting to see the distribution of folks.

I just joined and I created a Photo Gallery. There is a window for uploading a photo, but it does not tell you how to do this. Searching through the forum entries, I see that several people have had this problem. I read one that seems to work but it appears to me that there should be a step-by-step method on the form for dinosaurs like me who never could program a VCR, either.

I suggest this:

If you want to upload a picture to your Gallery click the yes or no radio button

Browse your pictures and click on the one you want to add to the gallery.

Click upload (the forum site should be able to do this).

P.S. What are tags?

This is my first time on a birding site. I love the great pics. and photos in this library. I can"t find an example of this bird in any of the descriptions.

It looks like a Black Pheobe, except it has a yellow beak instead of black,, and phoebes aren't this far north..??

Pics. taken in evening low light. They seem to come to the feeder in morning and evening. Almost always just eating the ground seeds that I throw when I fill my hanging cage feeder rather than pearching on the feeder with the pine ciskins which are smaller but really fiercely defend their feeder. Their song is a delicate " pew pew pew ". They're about 4-5 inches including tail. Thanks for your input ... Terese

Where are the instructions for creating albums in the gallery?

Starting a gallery and adding pictures was no problem.

But I'm obviously overlooking something. Like a link to instructions for creating albums for the pictures posted.

I want to create albums for different types of birds or special pictures. Can someone please help?

I am hearing a beautiful whistling bird somewhere high in the pine trees in central Georgia now in April. Musically, it is descending on a major scale - fa - sol - do. Loud, clear, and slow. Ends in a slow trill on "do". Is kind of sparrowish. What is this bird?

Hi - I just joined the forum and look forward to learning more about birds. This bird was photographed at Magee Marsh in Oak Openings Ohio on 8/15/2008. I checked with the Black Swamp Bird Observatory and they thought it coud be an immature female evening grosbeak. can anyone help? I've looked online and also in the field guides I have. thanks!

Turkeys in the Snow (not straw)

I just joined a few days ago, and wouldn't you know it. I was going to Green Bay, WI from Door County (where I live) and saw about 15 wild turkeys on an uphill sloped embankment on the side of the road. It was really cool, too. The snow was deep and smooth and their tracks circled around all over the hillside and ended up, of course, where a turkey was. I didn't have my camera. I'll know better next time. BRING MY CAMERA EVERYWHERE!

please help .black/white sparrow sized-not junco.no brown,no gray.yellowish bill & legs...eats with sparrows feeder and ground seeds.Tail narrow,white wing bars seen only in flight.Am in Illinois in Dec.with snow cover.Bird looks similar to drawing of black phoebe but not bill color or bird shape. 3 are hanging around with sparrows but are sleeker in shape.

I am always reading the "help identify" forum and sometimes someone will tell you to look at their gallery for a picture and I don't know how to find the gallery.

Can anyone help?
