    Michigan flycatcher

I have a photo that I can try to post later, but figured I could describe it enough that someone would be able to ID it...

    Location:  upper Lower Peninsula Michigan

Clearly a flycatcher of some sort, body shaped like a pewee or phoebe.  Clear white "eyebrow".  Distinctive behavior of fanning its tail out while sitting on the branch.

I'll try to post the picture when I get around to getting it off of my camera.

This isn't adding up to anything for me at the moment.  Please post the pic.

Well, it took me a lot longer than I intended, but here's the photo of my mystery bird:

Appears to be a red-eyed verio, which is what I expected from your description.

That's a Red-eyed Vireo. Listen to its very easy-to-recognize song on this site and see if it doesn't sound familiar.

Awesome, thanks guys.  Definitely a first for me.  I was walking along a path and it was sitting in the tree right next to me... must have been only 4-5 feet away.  Didn't seem to mind me at all.
