I was up at my Brother's house north of Barrie Ontario for a few days this week and my brother pointed out a nest of Downy Woodpeckers with young still in a tree on his property. This little guy would not shut up, he was squawking nonstop from dawn to dusk, and squawking quite loudly too. Even when the parents showed up to feed this guy, he still kept squawking away, if he stopped for a few seconds, that would be the longest he'd stop for. I couldn't get over the noise this little guy could make, at one point he was actually louder than the stereo we were trying to listen to. Anyways, I set the camera up on the tripod and hoped the noise maker would poke his head out of the hole and pose for me. It took a lot of patience but eventually he poked his head out enough for me to get a couple of shots off. I was really hoping to get a shot of the young guy feeding, but everytime the parents showed up, he stayed in the hole and waited for mom and dad to poke their head inside to feed him.
