    Owls

What's the best way to find barred owls.  At least that is what I am thinking they are.  I can hear them hooting back and forth but so far no luck sighting them.

    Re: Owls

Well if they are Barred owls this species is often active during day light hours and can be found in mixed forest areas roosting in the open ( not in holes) as far as open goes. Just take a walk and stop occassionaly and just take your time looking around and you should see one. Here is an example of one I found doing this.

    Re: Owls

I do hear them during the later day.  I live where there is lots of trees.  I also hear them at night.  They can be loud.  Sometimes it is hard to hear what direction they are in.  I will keep looking.  Very nice pictures you took.  Thank you for sharing them.  Are they very timid?  Although I am very quiet and slow to move when looking.
