Stephen:We have an escapee frequenting our feeder in New Jersey. Will it survive the winter? Do they migrate in winter? We are trying to figure out whether we should try to capture it and bring inside for the winter. Thanks.
A budgie being a native of the dry hot places of Australia will never survive the winter in New Jersey.
It will be someones cage bird if you feed it it may come to you and even perch on your head or shoulder if so don't attempt to grab it or it will fly off but move slowly indoors that way you may catch it. you maybe able to catch it with a bird net (similar to a net that a fisherman uses to help land a fish that is on a line)
