    Re: Veery

We camped in Washburn County in northern Wisconsin this week and I heard my first Veery. Sounded like a bubble flute on a roller coaster. Really fun and a beautiful sound. Never did see them, though. I understand that they over-winter in Brazil and breed in the northern woods. Fun!

Thanks to the wonderful resources on this site, I was able to identify the bird I have been hearing in my yard as the Veery.  It has such a distinctive call, and I had looked everywhere trying to figure out what the bird was.  Now I know!  Thanks, Kerilou

    Re: Veery

Just saw my first Veery a few days ago at White Clay Creek Park ... actually, there were 2 of them in the scrub ... one was really polite enough to come out and land on the path next the scrub so I could get a full frontal and profile photo ... very cool !
