does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to keep the squirrels off my bird feeders. ive tried buckets, flashing, etc.  they seem to get aroung everything.  i have all kind of feeders and none are safe.  besides cutting MORE trees down, does anyone have any suggestions on any of the types of feeders?

Just had a similar experience on our feeder, which is up on a pole made out of a 2x4. Naturally, the squirrel could climb right up. All we did was wrap a 6 ft. length of galvanized stove pipe around the pole (it snaps together) and that was that. The squirrel was furious, of course, and sat beneath the feeder "yelling" loudly for about 15 minutes. I don't know what kind of feeder you have or what it's on or if it's near enough to trees for a squirrel to jump to.

i have ALL kinds of feeders and NONE are safe.  my one on a pole (2x4)(possibly like yours) i have galvanized flashing all the way up, so they jump from the trees.  i guess i'll have to loose another tree or two.

I shoot towards them with a sling shot. It worked for a while, but now they've figured out I'm not really trying to hit them. I accidentally killed a nest of five baby squirrels this spring and felt really bad, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt right now.

I have no problem popping them with a BB gun. Rabbits either for that matter. The world will never run out of either.

I think that I have finally squirrel proofed my yard. 1) I have 4 dogs, 3 of which think its their job to keep the yard squirrel free. The squirrels are very careful when they come close to the ground now. 2) I put squirrel baffles over my suet feeders and hang them from the very end of the dead tree. The limbs are weak and skinny making them unstable. 3) Squirrel baffles on the pole system 4) Only put thistle and saffflower in feeders that squirrels might have access to. 5) I use very fine wiggly wire to hang feeders

We have two feeders hanging simply from a shepherd's crook.  We spray Pam on it and the view of them sliding back down to the ground is hilarious.

Now that's something I would LOVE to see!  I don't have any squirrels but sounds like a great idea!

Someone else posted about putting cayenne pepper in the bird feed. It doesn't bother the birds who have no taste buds, but the squirrels hate it. One poster said he saw a squirrel that after visiting the feeder was crawling on his belly wiping his face in the grass. That had to be a funny sight.

And Im only a teen

I have a rectangular feeder made of metal.  If the squirrels get on it the gate shuts.  It is initially expensive,  BUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuttttt I have had mine for 15 years now and still going strong.  Mine is brown but I think they are green now.  No squirrels have ever gotten to them, as far as I know.  Had a chipmunk get stuck inside one time.  He scared the daylights out of my daughter when she went to fill the feeder.  I put a coffee can on the pole and noone inside since.  Good Luck.
