    Dark-eyed Junco

    Attachment: IMG_5065crop.jpg

This bird recently showed up in my yard - first time I had ever seen one - it was very grey ( no picture uploaded)  - although the pictures I got that day were not great - he does look like he's solid grey on top..   The pictures I have from today show a different coloured bird - almost  brown..   Is there variance in the colour of Dark-eyed Junco's or is this bird just odd..

    Re: Dark-eyed Junco

The female slate-colored dark eyed juncos are usually a dull gray/brown color, whereas the males have the slate color that gives them their name.
