    A few from today

We took a trip up north of Seattle about 45 minutes to see  how the snow geese were doing.  They are just starting to arrrive - only a few thousand of the over 100,000 they are expecting.  No trumpeter swans yet, they'll start next month.  But, we did watch a red tail hawk take a starling for breakfast (one less is better then nothing!).  By the time we got to where it perched it had almost finished with breakfast.  We were walking down a road and my husband was telling to to look at the harrier that was flying toward us - well not a harrier but a short eared owl.  I wish the pictures would have been a little more clear.  Anyway here are a few from today:

New for 2010: horned lark, prairie falcon, red-necked grebe, bewick's wren, snow bunting

Those are great shots - I especially like the owl shots!  I don't have any owls on my list yet...
