We took a trip up north of Seattle about 45 minutes to see how the snow geese were doing. They are just starting to arrrive - only a few thousand of the over 100,000 they are expecting. No trumpeter swans yet, they'll start next month. But, we did watch a red tail hawk take a starling for breakfast (one less is better then nothing!). By the time we got to where it perched it had almost finished with breakfast. We were walking down a road and my husband was telling to to look at the harrier that was flying toward us - well not a harrier but a short eared owl. I wish the pictures would have been a little more clear. Anyway here are a few from today:
