    Is this a yellow warbler?

Seen in Bahamas 1 week ago. Seen quite a few yellow warblers so thought this one looked odd with the grey head.

    Thanks Marc

Actually, due to the sudden demarcation of gray-to-olive, I'd say you have a female Mourning Warbler - a very good bird here in the States, but I'm not sure about how prevalent they are elsewhere.

Looking at my notes, this picture was taken at the edge of a swamp. In the time I observed it, it remained low to the water.

This isn't hitting me as a mourning warbler.  Maybe a Tennessee warbler.  It would be nice to see a better view of it to be more sure.

We could also be seeing the top of a female Nashville... now I'm all doubting myself! lol

Yeah, I wouldn't rule out Nashville either.  It just doesn't look right for an Oporornis warbler to me.

I apologise for not putting this photo at the beginning of the thread but only now realise that it is probably the same bird (same location a couple of hours later at the end of a walk). Not good quality but a conclusion would be nice.

Thanks chaps, I am from UK so have limited experience of these super North american warblers.

Looking more and more like a male Tennessee warbler.

Yeah, look like I have to agree with male Tennessee Warbler. Man, was I off on that one! Still a good bird for the Bahamas, apparently, so good job!

Tennessee was my thought as well.  But I'm not very confident on eastern warblers, especially ones I've never seen in the field before.

I've been studying Jamaican possibles for an upcoming trip and Tennessee is one of them.  I made flashcards to help me study and the one in first photo looked a lot like the one on my homemade cards  LOL
