    Played hooky today!

I needed a (mental health) day off - so I called in and played hooky!  It was a beautiful day in Seattle with a storm brewing for tomorrow.  I wanted to see the black-tailed gull,  American tree sparrow, streaked horned lark, palm warbler,  orchard oriole, and some kind or longspur - but after I finally got out of bed that sounded like far too much work hunting then all down.  The RBA's can wait for another day.  But I didn't do to bad at a couple of local parks:

These hooded mergansers were trying to show off for a couple of sweet young ladies - it was so funny watching them:

This towhee was watching us watch it!

I thought this GC sparrow turned out nice:

I gotta have a heron for good measure:

This GC kinglet was trying to avoid having it's picture taken:

Hmmm. Looks like you had a good day. Looking at your photos makes me think:

    Work sucks!

Nice shots!  I agree - work sucks!  I'm tempted all the time to call in sick (and I have before)!

Hmm, I guess I'm not a serious birder.  I haven't called in for birding yet.  After that series, though, I might consider it!

So far, I've just been sneaking out for a half hour every other day or so and walking around the building with my binos.  I spotted a flock of Yellow-Rumped Warblers last Friday, must have been 30 or 40 of them.  I also put off mowing my lawn last weekend, which is a big deal if you know Florida lawns!

I saw a flock today also.  Mine are a little bigger but just about the same quantity!  My best guess is trumpeter swans.  They migrate into the area this time of year.
