    Confirm Mottled Ducks

    Are these a male and female mottled ducks? Photo taken last October in the Everglades.

    I dunno, when I think Mottled Duck, I think BRIGHT yellow bills, which I don't see here.... so I'm neither going to confirm or deny, let's see what others have to say. ::EDIT:: Well, if a Floridian says so, it MUST be true! Look enough like Mottled Duck to me, I suppose.

    It looks like a cloudy day in that photo, otherwise, I'm sure the drake's bill would be brighter.

    I think they look good for mottled ducks.  It helps that you don't really get black ducks in the Everglades.

    Good point PoorMatty, didn't realize that. Between you and Lyceel, I'm all on board: Mottled Ducks they are!
