    Point Loma (San Diego) eagle

Sitting on the cliffs at Cabrillo National Monument just days ago, an eagle cruised very near me.

I thought it was a golden eagle, but looking on the web for this area, golden eagles aren't mentioned as being sighted there.

Could it have been a golden eagle, or something else?

Both Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles would be possible there. Are you quite certain it was an eagle and not, say, an immature Red-tailed Hawk?

It was a really big bird, I don't think it could have been a hawk.

Maybe it was an immature bald eagle (didn't have a white head)

    That's certainly a possibility.
