True, but despite its name, I like to make it more like a Big Day i.e. a lot of birding in not a lot of time. In the past, I've covered some of the local small towns, it was great fun (at least for me, my brother who came along thought otherwise 
) It encourages me to do some intense birding after all the Christmas Bird Counts are over, and Spring migration is still a ways away.
