    Peanut butter treat recipe

I make this stuff and the Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Titmice, and nuthatches just cant get enough of it. I thought i would share it.

    1 pound lard

    1 cup peanut butter

    2 cups flour

    1 cup cornmeal

    1 cup quick oats

1 cup peanut pieces, millet, or sunflower seed (optional)

Just mix it all up. thats it. I put part of it into old store bought suet containers and freeze it till needed. The rest i form into plugs and put in a log feeder. The birds just devour it!

Thanks for the recipe, T-bird!  I will have to try this as the store bought stuff gets expensive. Smile [:)]

That's a great recipe thanks for sharing. We get loads of woodpeckers and titmouse birds I like for them to stick around. I will definatly try this recipe as the premade stuff will get expensive.

What kind of feeder do you suggest for this? Are there any at our eStore that will work?

A log feeder is best for this mixture i think. I also have spread it all over pine cones and hung them from a branch for the smaller birds. You can even just spread it out on a tree trunk.

Oh, I also spread it on bread (make a sandwich). It fits nicely in a single suet cage. The downey's devour it.

Also for a summertime tip, increase the flour by about 1 cup. It doesnt melt as fast.
