Unknown birds in Long Island, New York.

These birds I’m unable to identify. I took photographs of them & posted them at my site:

    http://birdsoasis.wordpress.com/2008/03/01/unidentified-birds-of-new-york-long-island/

*Note- These birds were photographed in my yard, the ducks were by the lake near my home & the falcon in a feild.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………

Sizes (of the birds that are currently unnamed)

Unknown A- size of a Canada Goose

Unknown B- size of a Sharp-Shinned Hawk, I don't belive it's a Peregrine Falcon because of the face pattern is different & breast is patterned.

Unknown C- aprox. 10-12″in. long. It looked like that all summer without plumage change.

Unknown F- solid black duck with a sapphire blue stripe on the wings, size of a Pekin Duck.

I was thinking Merlin as well for B.

    B is certainly a merlin. C is a female red-winged blackbird.

F appears to be an american black duck but the picture is a lil dark to say for sure.  If it is not a black it may be a mallardxblack cross

The last picture is a muscovy duck.

The only wild birds are the Merlin and Red-winged Blackbird.  The rest are all domestic duck hybrids.

    spottedowl:
    How is C a female Red-winged Blackbird?

Perfect for a female Red-winged Blackbird, note the pale supercillium and throat (in this case it's yellowish, some (most) individuals are more white) and overall brownish streaked.

Take a look at this photo of a similar individual.
