Please help me identify this bird!!

My husband and I live in Southeast Florida on a canal.  Across the canal is a large tree with lots of different birds in it. (we call it the "Bird Condo".  We spotted a beautiful bird and can't quite make a positive ID - it is a medium to large heron type with a black dagger bill, a grey body with black wings and black stripe from the neck to over the eyes.  Eyes are reddish orange.  There is a white plume? on the head.  Legs are orange.  We think it is a blue heron?  or yellow crested night heron?  It is so beautiful -  Any help???  Thanks

You have pretty much described a yellow-crowned Night Heron, although its legs are more yellow than orange, and the wings are darker than the body although not really black. Is this your bird (leg color is misleading)?

Thanks for replying!  I went back outside to see if he/she was still there and she? was!  I did make a mistake because the wings are gray - I also found a picture of a black-crowned night heron which I think it may be that one - Thanks so much - it is so pretty just watching it in the "bird condo" - also there are several green herons living in there, too!  Thanks again Snowyowl!!!
