she was staring right at me-cardinal

There is a pair of cardinals that comes to the feeder a couple times each day, the male is gorgeous but really shy and flies away before I can get a pic, but the female is bolder and she stared right at me through the kitchen window today and I snapped her pic, she was hanging on to the edge of the window like she was watching me wash dishes...LOL Probably not the best since it was through a window.

Nice picture.  Do you ever wonder if they birds stop by the windows to look in to say, "Hey, we need some seed out here."?  I think they know that I feed them and they come to my deck to let me know the feeder is empty.

They know they always have a meal here, I have 2 suets up and some loose seed as well. Don't have to put up a bird bath as we have a creek on our property. They come at least twice a day.

Great pic, Rav...a lot better than the ones I've tried to take through my kitchen window!

None of my cardinals are very bold.  They always scatter as soon as I open the door.

Thanks Valley...I am trying to get a pic all day of the Eastern Phoebe who lives in the nest by our front door under the eave above the porch light. She is so fast I never can get one, I checked her nest today and there are 4 eggs. She seems to be the same bird we had last year that had chicks there. The chickadees are going to be even tougher, once in their nesting box you can't even see them. Trying to keep the camera ready while I do my gardening.

Has anyone found that birds (and squirrels for that matter) don't see very well through windows?  They seem to be able to see movement -- but when I'm standing still it appears they can't tell I'm there.  My feeders are ~3 feet away from a sliding glass door -- I can stand right up against the door (still) and watch all the birds go about their business as if I'm not even there.  The squirrels also will walk right by the door -- a mere few inches from me -- and be none the wiser.
