How to post an Image on the forums

I have seen a lot of people stating they can't post an image on these forums so i am going to try and explain how.

First off you will need a couple of things they are 1) The image to display and 2) an image hosting web site ( I use my own web site and upload my images to display there)

    ok

Step 1 )  Start your forum off then click on the insert image button as shown here :-

    image insert button

This will open a Dialog box that you fill in to tell the forum where the image is located

Step 2)  The location Dialog box

dialog box Fill out the Image URL make sure you get it correct or it won't work if you used upper case letters you must use them etc. Then all you need to do is click on the insert  button that is it your image should show up straight away in the forum you are writing.

that works if you are bringing the photo in from  a hosting site, but...if you are writing a post or replying, and you are moving the photo from your computer directly here, that wont work... you have to hit options on your first screen, and ....well, here it is in another post from a while back.. good luck   http://www.whatbird.com/forums/forums/thread/18738.aspx

hey Kiwi.. your post was good. it covered it if they have a website, but don't work  if they were downloading from your computer...cuz it only asks for a URL, and my ccomputer don't have one... that is the only reason i linked to the old post, to save me the  time and effort to type it all out again , and do the kinda job you did.

Re: How to post an Image on the forums

very true so between the two of us we have covered both ways in which to do this as I stated in my original post you had to have an image hosting site for it to work and I was going to include your method's link in my first post. My IE (thankyou Bill Gates) froze and I had to restart everything all over was so ticked I forgot to add your link

    Regards Peter

Sometimes I already have an image elsewhere, sometimes not.  So thank you for the info to post both ways.  :D

Re: How to post an Image on the forums

Having watched lots of people fail at posting images in the "Help Me Identify a Bird" forum, perhaps the essence of this thread could be placed in a sticky thread at the top of that forum.  That would save a lot of effort and lots of questions if that information was there in addition to here.  Just a few weeks of visiting makes it painfully obvious that the site is not at all intuitive and people have lots of difficulty posting images.  A sticky thread with instructions would likely eliminate much of the confusion, and most posts are in that forum.

    Just a thought.

i agree i have never got to post a picture and i have not got a web site. and don't have a url.

Why can't there be browse button on the forum page that i can pick a picture from my pictures or documents and add to my reply? Or the same thing on the reply on a thread so i can add a picture to a open thread?

    Hi everybody,

I am new here, greetings to you all out there in darkness and daylight. (Here it is cold and wet and windy and twenty past eleven on a Thursday night).

I live in Mannheim/Germany, and I am glad I've found this forum. Hope you can help me identify a bird I saw during Whitsuntide this year on the shores of Moraine Lake in Alberta/Canada.

Have tried to upload an image and hope it has worked.

    Best regards

    Walter

Re: How to post an Image on the forums

for all of us who are not computer litterate or don't have web pages or photo gallerys to use to post

all of what you said is moot. The only option for me is to use the options button and brouse my picture

or documents on my computer and pick the photo i want to post then click save and then post.

Even then it does not always work and you have to save pictures as jpg ir rif and be small or they will not post.

Also the options button will not allow me to post more than one photo on the same reply.
