Help me identify this colorful bird in Texas

    Attachment: bird.jpg

A number of these beautiful birds have appeared at our home in Rio Frio, Texas this year for the first time. Can someone identify it for us? Thanks!

One of my favorites -- a painted bunting indeed.  I hope to see one of these in person someday...

Ooooo!  I am SO jealous.  The first time I saw one of those was Mother's Day last year while I was talking to my daughter, who was in Germany at the time.  Maybe I'll get another glimpse this Mother's Day!
