    Or mom, for that matter.  I thought at first this was going to be a western tanager, but the colors don't look quite right.  Both photos are from a great distance and cropped.

    North west Washington State

    1st year male Bullock's Oriole, hasn't yet developed his full bright orange color or wide white wing bar. It's clearly an Oriole, and in your area there are no others.

    Thanks!  I hadn't seen one of those before, and was looking at pictures of one in a field guide just now!  Other than the color, it struck me that the beak was wrong and it seemed too large for a tanager, though it was hard to tell at the distances from which these photos were taken.  This individual flew off after a few minutes, hopefully he comes back and brings a few friends.
