    Flycatcher in California

    Attachment: flycatcher.jpg

I'm just not real good with flycatchers yet.  I shot this one in June Lake, California, near Mammoth.

Looks to me like an olive-sided flycatcher...but so many subtle traits...what am I missing?

    Thanks!

I believe you are correct about this being an Olive-sided Flycatcher. The only other choice is Western Wood-Pewee, but the pronounced crest, white throat, and stout bill of this bird make it an Olive-sided.  Do you have any other views that show either the rump, wing bar area, and/or the front?

    Yes, an Olive sided flycatcher.
