    bird ID please

    Attachment: birdcollageresize.jpg

Hi, I'm going to attempt to upload a "collage" that I did with pictures of a bird that is nesting on my front porch.

This bird has a charcoal colored head(with a bluish cast) with a grey body(which also has a bluish cast but not bright blue, more grey) and light/[a;e chest. The immature birds ( the babies fledged out from the first nest this year) are more brownish. The tail is held straight out ( not fanned).

At first I thought a wren of some sort as it's that size but the nest is cupped and very neat with some green moss intertwined and the bird sits on top of it ( as opposed to a wrens that has a side entrance ). The eggs appear to be white but I have not been able to see them myself ( held camera up when bird was off nest to get picture of eggs).

Ideas? I'm in the southern US.

Where in southern US are you? It looks like it could be a flycatcher of the genus empidonax.
