    Hello & Help

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum and need help identifying a bird.  We are vacationing south of Cancun, Mexico and I saw a bird yesterday that I can't identify.  It was about 20km from the coast in the jungle. Perched high in a tree it was robin/blue jay size, and dark in color.  Its identifying feature was its unusual tail.  The tail was very long and extremely thin.  At the end of the tail were two white tufts of feathers.  Thanks for your help.

    Re: Hello & Help

Perhaps a Black-throated Magpie-Jay or a White-throated Magpie-Jay (I am not sure which of these is in that area of Mexico).

If not maybe one of the Motmots, one of the Quetzals, or a Macaw.

To see photos of any of the birds I mentioned just search them on Google Images or Flickr.
