    White Finch?

Can anyone help me identify this bird.  He has been at our feeder for the past week or so (south-central PA).  He feeds with the house finches.  He bothers no one and no one bothers him.

He is entirely off-white...no other colors.

Could he possibly be a house pet that found freedom?

Could you get a larger picture?

It might be an escaped exotic, or maybe a House Finch with color abnormality.

It's hard to get him to sit still long enough to get a good picture but maybe this one is better?

Weird. Could it be an albino finch or something?

    Re: White Finch?

WOW.. Interesting... From what I could gather in google, the closest is a Albino Purple Finch...  Still not sure though...

I've never seen a wild albino bird.

Cool, this is my 200th post/photo on Whatbird.

    Re: White Finch?

It seems to be a rare white bird rather then an albino lacking the pink eyes. Does it have pink eyes? I can't tell. It looks like they're black. I thought all albino's have pink eyes.

    Re: White Finch?

I think the eyes are black.  Just read an article that says albinos could have dark ruby red eyes that appear black and not all albinos have pink eyes.

Here are two sites that have me thinking it is a mutant finch.

Found this next link interesting:  This story shows a bird very similar to my photo.  This town is not far away from my town.

I really need to get a better digital camera.  I have great video of this bird but no stills.  The posted stills are from video which is not the best quality.

Thanks for all your input.  I'm excited to have such a cool visitor to my feeder!
