Please help identify dead bird (a picture, sorry!)

    Attachment: P7040044.jpg

Saw this bird in the street this morning when I was wheeling myself to the grocery store. Couldn't identify it so got the camera when I came home. The black ring goes completely around its neck and the top of its head is the same color as the wings show. Smaller than a robin, larger than a sparrow? I do have other pictures if needed.

It looks kind of like a Common Yellowthroat. (Geothlypis thrichas)

    Try looking up Horned Lark.

Actually my first thought was Horned Lark, but the black collar doesn't seem right. I know the Horned Larks vary a lot over the states and the bird IS dead so that might make a difference. Here is a picture of the back of the head if that is any help.

    That's definitely a Horned Lark.

I agree with Horned Lark.  The common yellowthroat has more of a black face mask and much more yellow on it's throat and breast

OK, now I see the "horns." Poor thing!
