Hello -

In April I noticed a Mourning Dove in a nest nearby and checked on it often. Two babies were born and eventually fledged.  A few weeks later there was another dove in the nest and two more babies were born and eventually fledged as well.  Today I noticed the nest is occupied for a third time!

My question is: could this be the same dove, now laying a third clutch for this season? or are they 3 different doves sharing a single nest?

Thanks in advance for any replies.... 

 

I have seen a Mourning Dove raise at least two broods a year, using the same nest. Three broods would not be unusual in a region where there is a long Spring/Summer season, temperature wise. I think it would be the same Dove reusing it's own nest.
