    Problem running Winged Explorer

I am using a HP IPAQ 2490b with a 4 gb SD card. I am running WM 6.0

I installed the demo without problem but when I try to run it I get the following error.

    Can not find PInvoke.dll

Can anyone help me with this?

     Thanks

Glad it installed properly. Was the demo downloaded yesterday? We added a new demo today with some bug fixes, it would be great if you could try again with the new one. Meanwhile I will check with the Gods and see if PInvoke.dll rings any bells.

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

I downloaded the demo file again today and it installed again without a problem but I still have the same error although the is a little more detail this time.

    It says: Can't find PInvoke.DLL 'sqlceme30.dll'

When this message pops up I can hear what I assume is music associated with the startup screen but the error message blocks any view and only gives me the option of details or exit.

    Thanks for your help

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

It sounds like the SQLCE did not get installed. I'd suggest you use Remove Programs on the device to remove the current Winged Explorer. Then I would go to the device program folder and make sure the Winged Explorer folder is deleted. Next do a soft reboot of your device, resync it to your PC, then run the Winged Explorer Demo again. Note during install if it skips the installation of .NET or SQL (which would mean it thinks those files are correctly installed). Let me know if this helps.

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

    Mitchell,

This is the same problem I told you about last weekend when installing on my custom ROM WM6.1 Touch.  I will be home from my business trip in a few hours and I am hoping to find time this weekend to upgrade the spare Touch to 6.1 and see if the problem is duplicated (if so, I will try a couple of different ROMS to verify whether it is a ROM problem or a WE problem).

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

Can you guys email me the file c:/we.log on your PC and the file we.log in the root of the device we can take a closer look at what is causing this problem. Thanks Alan for your sleuthing, I look forward to the results.

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

    Mitch

I tried what you suggested and completely removed all files from my device and reinstalled Winged Explorer demo but I still continue to get the "I can't find PInvoke" error.

I even reinstalled SQL3.0 even though it is part of my 6.0 rom. The instalation program finds SQL Server 3.0 saying (Already installed, skipping this step)

I will email log files as requested shortly.

This is a strange bug because its happening in SQL or DOTNET. You should not bother with installing SQLCE or NETCE as they are already part of the WM6 ROM.

One thing that confuses me is you say your 2490 is WM6 but everything I read says its WM5, eg from Amazon

    • Powerful Pocket PC with 520 MHz Intel XScale processor and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system
    • Integrated WiFi (802.11b) and Bluetooth networking; 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM
    • Expandable via CompactFlash type II (CF) and Secure Digital (SDIO) slots; IR and USB sync ports
    • 3.5-inch transflective TFT display with 64,000 colors; rechargeable lithium-ion battery for long life
    • Includes HP encryption security; measures 4.71 x 3.01 x 0.65 inches (W x H x D); 1-year warranty
Is it possible that you upgraded your ROM to WM6?

The HP asset viewer clearly shows it as Windows CE 6.0, Everything else is as you have listed.

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

The logs you sent shows that the installer skips SQL CE & CF.NET as it detects WM6. What I'd like to know is what is installed on that PDA. From the descriptions it seems like either SQL CE or CF.NET are not there, so can you check Remove Programs in Settings on PDA to ensure both are installed. And also, "\Program Files" on PDA may contain an entry like ".NET Framework" Thanks

I finally got a chance to try to get the program demo working on my PDA again.....and I did. The solution for me was to copy the sqlce30.ppc cab file from the installlation package to my PDA and install it manually.

    Re: Problem running Winged Explorer

Monty that is awesome news, I am so glad it worked.

I am still flummoxed on how come it needed to be installed manually as that should have happened in the installation automatically. We have the logs so maybe the geniuses can figure it out now that we know how to fix it

BTW Did you get the 20% discount coupon for WE? I would love you to get the full version.
