Cool [H] New Search Engine - Please try

We have launched a new search engine interface:

    http://identify.whatbird.com/mwg/_/0/attrs.aspx

    The features are:

    1. Interaface now fits in a 1024 x 768 screen so there is no excessive scrolling.
    2. Entire interface is more compact.
    3. History window is no longer between the Match and Attributes windows so its easier to see your selections.
    4. Match window is more compact and can viewed in either a compact or expanded mode.

I would very much like to get your feedback. You can take the poll and leave a message.

How would you rate the new search engine interface

    • Excellent (33.3%)
    • Very Good (66.7%)
    • Good (0%)
    • Fair (0%)
    • Not Great (0%)
    • Terrible (0%)

Re: New Beta Search Engine - Please try

The fixes are very good. There is still some scrolling for the attributes with lots of selections, but it is much better than previously. The expanded view of matches is great. For those of us with decent connections, it is much more convient to view all the matches on one page. Nicely done.

Thank you, its very gratifying to hear that what we did was on the mark. I hope more people speak up! There is not a lot we can do about scrolling attibutes with many values, if you have any ideas I would love to hear them. You can expand the Match window and see many more birds now, did yoiu see that?

Re: New Beta Search Engine - Please try

The improved search engine is very nice.  But does that mean using the search text box at the top of the home page is disabled?  I tried to enter in a name and clicked search, but nothing happens.   This used to work for me before and I have used the site many times so I can listen to bird calls.   I am using a Macintosh with OS 10.4.6 if this helps any.  I have tried several browsers and the text box search will not work on any of them.   I can still get to the search through the link you posted, it's just the text box search at the top of the home page that I am having issues with.

The home page autocomplete is temporarily busted - it should be working again tomorrow. And it will be included in the new beta search engine, which BTW is no longer beta, its officially replaced our old one.
